Dunelm Harmon Chessboard Side Table Review: Stylish Storage & Game Night Fun! (2026)

I have been eagerly anticipating the release of Dunelm's chessboard side table since late last year, and now it's finally here!

Just a few weeks ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to preview Dunelm’s exciting new collection of home goods for the upcoming spring and summer seasons. I’m thrilled to share that two standout items from this fresh lineup—the Dunelm Harmon side table and its coordinating Harmon coffee table—have just become available for purchase. What a relief!

Although I only got to experience these fabulous pieces in person recently, I’ve actually been waiting for their launch for several months, ever since I spotted them in Dunelm’s lookbook for spring/summer 2026 at the end of the previous year.

So, what makes these side and coffee tables so remarkable? For starters, both pieces feature cleverly concealed storage, making them ideal options for small living spaces. Simply lift the tabletop to uncover a generous amount of internal storage space. However, perhaps the most appealing aspect is that they serve as functional chessboards as well—no separate game board required!

The combination of practical storage with a chic chequerboard design, which transitions into stripes along the sides, is simply delightful. The stylish chequerboard not only looks sophisticated but also perfectly accommodates a game of chess or draughts, enhancing their versatility.

Crafted from wood, with contrasting colors achieved through a blend of mango wood and pine, both the side table and coffee table boast an elegant and mature aesthetic, steering clear of any juvenile designs.

Given their unique appeal and affordable pricing—just £149 for the side table and £379 for the coffee table—I suspect these pieces won’t be available for long. They possess that ‘viral’ quality, and I predict they will quickly become top sellers for the brand, particularly the side table, which I believe will sell out first. Its compact size makes it a perfect fit for even the smallest of rooms, all while remaining under £150.

Interestingly, another one of my favorites from the collection, the Dunelm Pondus coffee table made from cherry marble and mango wood, priced at £449, is already sold out. This further reinforces my belief that the Harmon range will fly off the shelves, so if you're interested, it would be wise to snag one while you still can.

Dunelm has been consistently impressing me lately with every new drop from their collection, whether it be the ingenious, sold-out fridge organizers or their innovative rechargeable lighting line, which I also got to see at the press showcase. And now we have the Harmon side and coffee tables! I couldn't be more pleased with what they've created.
